Top 5 Life Hacks when moving is imminent: No2

Firstly I apologise for the delay in the top 5 Life Hacks for your home. I’m afraid holidays and life got in the way a bit this week. However, as I was hunting around the never ending Internet…as you do when you’re really busy and should be doing something else I discovered the holy grail of Home Decor advise. The secret that all good and upstanding citizens NEED to know…yes that’s right, at Number 2 we’re talking: Linen Cupboards.

And even better than just linen cupboards, a quick guide on: How to Fold a Fitted Sheet. Why oh why didn’t somebody show me this before? My life would have been so much better. Well, just for you here it is. And once you have all your beautifully folded sheets you’re pretty close to eternal happiness. Well, that’s an entirely false statement-but you might feel like a smug domestic goddess-which is pretty much the same thing, no?! Well thankfully Martha Stewart has the answer.

How to Fold a Fitted Sheet:

1. Stand holding the sheet by the two adjacent corners of one of the shorter edges. With the sheet inside out, place one hand in each of these two corners.

2. Bring your right hand to your left, and fold the corner in your right hand over the one in your left, enveloping it. Next, reach down and pick up the corner that is hanging in front; bring it up, and fold it over the two corners in your left hand; the corner that’s showing will be inside out.

3. Bring the last corner up, and fold it over the others; with its right side showing, it should envelop the other three corners.

4. Lay the folded sheet on a flat surface and straighten it into the shape shown.

5. Fold the two edges in so all the elastic is hidden.

6. Fold the sheet into a rectangle.

7. Continue folding until the rectangle is the size you want it to be.

Voila! Easy peasy. Well, kind of-it takes a bit of practice and probably depends how OCD you want to be/have enough time to be, but the end results are rather pleasing!

However-in on a time appreciation level in all honesty you may be better off just measuring the front of your linen cupboard, find an old sheet you don’t want (or can’t fold nicely) and print one of the following beautifully organised cupboards on it instead-that way at least you’ll be happy when you open the door! Or at least when you open the cupboard door in front of your guests at 11pm because in all honestly you completely forgot they were coming and the bed hasn’t been made up for at least 2 months-but I’m sure that’s never happened to anyone. Certainly not moi…!

Thanks for reading, I would genuinely be interested to know how many real people have beautifully appointed airing cupboards, so if you actually exist do drop me a line!
